I heard recently that the Devs are miffed how OP robots are. The Devs, in the end, decided to buff belts by, among many other features, allowed to program splitters to filter stuff or give priority to input and output belts.
Another good feature would be either a new structure, a lane-balancer like the 'Single-Splitter', or have the option in the Splitter menu to "balance both input lanes" like in the Hacked Splitter. Because till now, you will end up with one lane being used while the other is clogged up if you were to use one of the "vaunted" Belt Balancers.

Re: Buffing Belts: Hacked Lane-Balancing Splitters
There are a ton of different lane balancer designs but they're all bulky and require 2 splitters. Just a tickbox "balance lanes" in the Splitter menu would be good - I mean we got the "Smart Splitter" so this is logically the next step.
Money might be the root of all evil, but ignorance is the heart.

Already been suggested a bunch of times, but +1 anyway.
