Yes, limiting certain resources to certain biomes could make the game more interesting. However, that would also mean that the starting area would have to consist of several different biomes, otherwise there wouldn't be all resources in the starting area.

The starting area could just have a very low richness and ore patch size. Biomes wouldn't need to have specifically only one ore type - it could just be a strong bonus to certain ore types.

Miner's - extraction of a huge amount of ore from underground sources with the help of mining drones, which will need many logical centers to coordinate their work
