automate vehicle inventory and equipment loading

Post by factoriouzr »

Add vehicle depots or areas right outside of a factory (kind of like a landing/parking area) where if you part a vehicle there, it will be auto rotated and aligned nicely and it will be automatically loaded with the equipment and inventory items you specify in the vehicle depot's settings.

Also do the same thing for trains to have each train go to a depot and be configured exactly like you want with inventory and equipment items.

This is more of a necessity now with inventory and equipment grids for vehicles.

I think if the devs only gave us the ability to read the contents of a vehicle (car, tank, train with cargo wagons) you could build a loading station yourself using inserters and the circuit network. I'm not sure though if inserters can insert directly into the equipment grid (I suspect not), that ability would have to be added as well.

All of those are already accessible via the Lua API.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
