BTW, how come chat log isn't included in the lua:terminal/stdout factorio-current.log (private information ?), or at least isn't in its own separate chat.log or factorio-console.log ?

Of course because of data-privacy.
Chat-log: every person needs to allow logging every time it comes into the game.
Console-log: logs the console commands. Which are commands, not personal opinion.

Definitely.

To add to the motivation: Some mods use chat messages for additional important messages for info that's hard to find elsewhere (even true for very highly regarded mods), and not being able to see any past info sucks.

This I came here because being able to read LTN request messages is super useful when debugging why a train request is being executed.
