I have got a knowledge about modules effecting pollution from some youtuber's stream. Currently there is no way for you to know that it is even effected unless you manage to see the number change on mouseover. But you should probably intentionally focus your attention on it.
I propose adding pollution effect % to all module descriptions just to make it really clear.
Be more clear about pollution from modules

Re: Be more clear about pollution from modules
Only productivity modules have an explicit pollution penalty.
However, I agree they don't do a god job explaining that pollution scales up and down with power consumption.

Re: Be more clear about pollution from modules
If it was that simple
Some buildings like Pumpjacks have enormous pollution and low power consumption.
Some like Labs have no pollution but a decent power consumption.
So there is no clear connection between those.
And it is only modules that can change the value even if through indirect way like manipulating power consumption.
We do not know how the tides can turn and maybe we will see a module to just turn pollution alone down or increase production without effect on pollution.
So I am 100% sure that pollution should not only me mentioned in the description but be also effected separately without the connection to power consumption.

Re: Be more clear about pollution from modules
Different buildings have different base amounts of power usage and pollution. But if you give (for example) +100% to power usage, you'll increase pollution output by 100% as well. Same with efficiency modules reducing power usage.PacifyerGrey wrote:If it was that simple

That would be multiplicative with any explicit pollution modifier from modules.

Now I know how it works. But that cost me a lot of research made outside of the game itself.TheSkiGeek wrote: Different buildings have different base amounts of power usage and pollution. I am sure that effect on pollution should not be tied to power consumption. And it really should be explicitly mentioned on modules.
I will give you an example why it could come in handy. Lets think hypothetically that we get some new kind of a boiler which can use modules. It has no power consumption but effectivity module could reduce its pollution.
Re: Be more clear about pollution from modules
I remember there were some threads about if Pollution should be uncoupled from Power Consumption, here is one in the balancing section:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=21052
It was majorly about efficiency modules not having any downsides, but I remember there was also somebody mentioning that Pollution should be basically its own attribute that doesn't depend on power consumption... and thereby enabling the possibility to have Pollution be affected by its own Module... like for example "Eco Modules".
Back then I even thought about on how to rebalance the Modules or so according to having Eco Modules as additional Module:
The values are up for debate but basically I think they would be alright for Level 3 Modules.
