Constants for logistic network

Post by MindChanger »

Constants for logistic network could be set for each network individually. In my case I would like to set limit of some products to be produced for whole network, it would be really useful.

... use a constant combinator?

I mean constants like for roboport to have global constants for every network for example to limit production. Using constant combinators that way is too hard (if I would like to change limit of produced materials I had to go to each constant combinator and change it).

I would like that!

A straightforward solution would be to add a "add circuit input to (virtual) logistic contents" mode for the roboport.

Right now the roboport can read the logistic contents into a circuit network, but not vice versa. With the change, we could then abuse roboports for wireless signal transmission <3

To solve the OP's problem, you would add the limit as negative offset, and stop production when there are at least "0" items in the logistic network.

Yes, for example like that :) Or simply add mode to read signals from constant combinators (so in one place there is for example 100 A to start producing something, in another roboport there is connected later -100A, so output signal from roboport is 0A so there is no A signal). This is just my proposition ;)

Hm.
I would explain it so:

Some new kind of new network, limited to the same area as the logistic network, no cables needed. And I can input
signals from the circuit network into it (or vice versa).

The amounts of two different networks are added inside inserters.

Example for this case:
A constant combinator gives the amounts of items for this area. The items are then multiplied by -1 and pushed into the new network (LRLRN - low range logistic radio network :) ).

The inserters needs to be configured to take the logistic network and the LRLR network. Both are added. If that signal is bigger than 0 stop production of this item.

That''s it. Also some kind of sending signals between networks would be nice for example to tell the train to go for resources

Yeah, of cause we need then also a HRLR (High Range Logistic Radio) Network. Some kind of transmission over the whole world. With multiple channels.
;)
