Red and Green Wire Lost Forever?

I've noticed that our little engineer has a terrible time conserving red and green wires.

Copper wires, he does really well--every time he places a new power-line an abundant supply of copper wire appears linking together whatever group of poles he puts down. The wire is a part of the electric pole structure, so you get it all back when you pick up the pole.

...but you have to redo the red and green wire from scratch.

Ha, it would be good idea to enforce player to carry copper wire all the time for placing power poles.
