Multiplayer MODS synchronization

Post by Khossus »

Hello! As a dedicated server owner I'd like to suggest some synchronization of installed mods from dedicated (headless) server and clients automatically by user's confirmation. It would be more comfort to multiplayer gamers to play on server with mods of diffirent versions and etc..
PS: sorry for my english.

This isn't a new idea, far from it.
To be able to do this sort of thing would require a more integrated mod management system than what currently exists.
But not to worry! version 0.13 which is in development is working on a solution to this part of the issue. The ability for a server to download data, including mods from he server may be a thing in the not so distant future.

The far plan is of cause, to automatically download all related mods in the right version. Until then I recommend to make a mod-package, that everybody can download as one zip. The mod-board has such a subboard, there is nothing against adding your own. :)
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Multi-Player MOD Sync

Post by rgauv »

When playing multiplayer, design a sync option so that the host can peer-to-peer the mods for the current game to the individual clients connected. Makes team building much quicker and simplier.

Not sure if someone asked this

but if i want to join a server with mods he says me which mods i dont got and which mods are not on the server
why not use this data ask if the user wants to activate/download these mods and then load the game again and auto join this server?

I mean the Game already downloads and updates mods....its possible to activate and deactivate them too....
