It could be interesting to have an item thats volatile to transport, mining itself (putting itself on ground) and likewise with the belt/robot/container it's on/in under certain conditions.
I was particularly thinking of the conditions being that it was placed on a blue belt, or on any belt whiten a (short) range of another of itself, or in a transport robot that changes direction in flight.

Oh, thanks, sorry.
Re: An item thats volatile to transport?
Sorry, your suggestion is not very specific and so not good use for discussion. I recommend to add a bit more "flesh" to make it more specific.

Re: An item thats volatile to transport?
It explodes if you place it on a belt too close to another one of itself, dropping itself and the belt onto the floor and triggering nearby items on the belt to do likewise.
The same happens with being on any fast belt or logistics robot that gets held up, as happens when the container it's going to becomes full or the robot runs out of charge.
What more do you want to know?
I'm much less certain what it would be used for, perhaps it could be a chemical.

Re: An item thats volatile to transport?
That still doesn't answer the why. Sorry, when I ask stupid questions, but I don't see the usage for this. "Interesting" is not enough.

Re: An item thats volatile to transport?
Honestly, same thing for me. I just can't see what's the interest with all this

An intermediate product, used in weapons and manufacture of other products, providing a belt balancing/smart inserter puzzle late game. You can also throw it as a weapon, place it down like a mine, or fill a chest with it for an expensive large explosive.
It could be even harder so you have to keep it moving on a belt, storing it in a loop of belt.
