Blueprint Book Improvements

Post by Violet_Scarelli »

My concept, in short: additional controls for blueprint books, and a new GUI to handle moving through them.

Right now, scrolling through blueprint books to get to the right print is pretty tedious. You gotta make sure you stop at the right spot, that you don't overshoot, etc etc etc.

So here's my proposal.
  • When holding a blueprint book which contains multiple books, pressing [Next Book] skips to the end of the current book, and [Previous Book] skips to the start of the previous book. This would obey the looping system that blueprints use, so you could cycle through from the last book in the list to the first one, and vice versa.
  • When holding a blueprint book of any kind, right click now brings up a table of contents, separated by book (if applicable) that shows the blueprints that it contains. Clicking any blueprint will instantly jump to that blueprint in the book. Clicking a sub-book will jump to the start of that book.
Why would this be a good addition to the game?
Simply put, it would make blueprint books so much more useful. It would also mean that large books would become easier to use in practice, as you don't have to carefully place each blueprint to make sure that everything is accessible, rather it can all go in the book and the table of contents ensures it's easy to hop to exactly what you want.

I like that idea! Right-click isn't used for anything when holding a blueprint/book yet, and it makes sense as that's the input for opening books, but more convenient than having to find the book in your inventory or library in order to open it.

Also, nested blueprint book text search when?!
