Here is an idea I have for the extra information you get when you use the alt key on assembling machines:
Currently it only shows what the machine is producing. Very useful indeed, but I often wonder why a certain assembler is not producing. Maybe you can include little icons below the current icon that indicate why the assembler is not producing.
For example, a small icon for every resource missing or an icon that indicates its storage is full.

Yes! Thought that often. It would be also very interesting to see, which item is the first or last which is filled into the "reactor", to find the bottlenecks faster.

I like analyzing bottlenecks so any statistics (similar to energy production/consumption) will be very helpful.
Of course, that we may analyse the whole factory infrastructure manually just like now, but statistics will be nice.
