Technology Screen Should (Usually) Preserve its State

Post by BlueTemplar »

TL;DR
The Technology Screen should (usually) remember what it was showing upon closing and then reopening it.
What ?
The Technology Screen should, unless a new tech has been discovered, remember its state when closed/opened:
- selected tech
- typed in search
- the position of the 3 scroll bars
- I might forget anything ?
Also, a reset button would probably be needed then.
Why ?
It can be tiresome, either in complex modpacks, or I suspect confusing too for new players in vanilla, to have to find over and over again, the same tech that you're focusing on (sometimes an already researched one, just for its recipes). It would help a lot if the tech tree just remembered this !

Yes that would be a nice QoL touch, to go with remembering the state for the production and power GUIs.
My own personal Factorio super-power - running out of power.

Would you mind, if I move this thread to viewtopic.php?f=6&t=62564 Production tab: persist selected timespan
and rename the thread to “Persist view of stats and tech view”?
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.
Have you used the Advanced Search today?

I still like small signatures...

I am unsure of whether this is similar enough ? Do as you see fit.

(Though probably the suggestions about the electric network info screens preserving their state should be merged first in that one ?)
