A new use for wood (Dock building)

So, I don't know about anyone else, but I have a bunch of wood stacks that I don't much care to use now that my factories have ample coal and I can make completely metalic electric poles. I figure that a dock-type item could be added to allow expansion over lakes, while simultaneously being a good resource-sink for all that wood (I really want to see wood be a big part of the economy on its own, but that's a topic for a different thread). Since I realize that with this it would be incredibly easy to funnel creapers into a choke point, either the dock material has to be expensive, or this must be released with the inevitable creaper update (aquatic type creapers would balance this nicely). Thoughts?
