Winter it will send.
Evolutions end.
Never will it mend.
Actually, it would be really cool if stage 3 trees had some adverse effect on the environment other than just not absorbing pollution. But I can't think of what that might be.

they could decay to dead trees (2 wood), emitting some pollution in the process. Maybe the same amount of pollution as burning 2 wood would give.

They could become dry enough to burst in fire when laser turret shoots close to it.
I am a translator. And what did you do for Factorio?

Have them release all the pollution they absorbed while alive.

I don't support this idea, because in general, biological processes slowly break down hazardous substances into simpler components. Not all of the pollution would be released because some of it would have been broken down by biological processes. Also, the pollution that did remain inside the tree would be slowly released as the wood rotted away.

I like this idea.
And i think it will be nicer if we have some tools or buildings that can actively absorb pollution (like an air filter) at the cost of power and some resources (like plastic).

I've played with the idea of pollution as a side product, probably liquid or gas. The assembler would then not have pollution at all, but until waste processing plants are unlocked you'd be forced to use polluting chimneys and spillovers. I suspect at least the recipe side could be modded, not sure about the pollution side.

tree recovery from pollution

Post by opa_in_the_fab »

Enable tree recovery from pollution
What ?
If trees are exposed to high levels of pollution, they loose leaves and/or becoming gray until (usually) they are dead.
So far (I think) trees cannot recover.

Proposal:
If damaged trees which are not dead yet
see zero (or very low) level of pollution over an extended period of time,
they slowly recover by getting less gray / growing more leaves.

Why ?
Increases the game immersion

WHY do you think it increases the value of Factorio as a game?
I would think easy to implement, and a quite nice optical feature.
Might also be a small motivation for some kind of players to reduce pollution (e.g. use efficiency modules).
Also, it is trendy (Factorio For Future)
