Resource drain should always be shown in tooltips
Resource drain isn't shown in tooltips of normal mining drills or oil jacks which is confusing. Only seeing a drain on the big mining drill can lead people to assume it is some additional wastage that isn't present in your normal drill instead of the productivity increase it actually is.

+1 for this. I was confused for like, half an hour, re-reading everything until I just assumed that normal miners or pumpjacks have 100% drain.

The drain is what is consumed when the machine is powered, but stopped. Normal miners have 0 drain. When powered, if, say, their output is saturated, their consumption becomes 0. Only buildings that consume power 100% of the time have drain (like laser turrets, inserters, electric furnaces, ...).

You're absolutely right (and I'm absolutely late). Sorry for the confusion.AileTheAlien wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 5:42 pm I think we're talking about two different things here. You're talking about minimum electricity consumption right? We're talking about the item-drain instead.
