Hi, I've got a suggestion.
In my early times I experiented a lot with blueprints (I still do ) and what happened quite often to me was that I accidently erased the wrong blueprint, one I wanted to keep and often worse, one that wasn't currently built somewhere on the map. The only solution out was to reload the savegame or quickly rebuild from memory, which was not always possible or quicker than just loose some minutes from the last autpsave and redo everything that happened in-between.
Blueprints have the elusive bahvious to go into inventory when being programmed, so their order in the inventory is not always clear, which adds to the confusion of clearing the wrong one.
My way out was to only use blueprints as a temporary solution. When I built something clever, I blueprint it and immediately have it rebuild somewhere else on the map, so the work is not prone to loss. This works very well and lets me review the blueprints when I walk past them, however they clutter the map, bind resources and many bot stations covering the map. This leads to a world map consisting of 33% active elements, 33% blueprinted factories and 33% overall belt/etc. infrastructure. Not very nice.
So how about blueprins that can e write-protected? So after use just protect them from accidental erasing. This lock can be removed again to reuse the blueprint. this would protect from erases without a second thought or in mental hurry.
Another idea would be WORM (write once, read many) blueprints, which can be progrmmed one and then not altered anymore. Some kind of carbonite blueprint
Anyway, I'm looking for a way that can help me keep my designs without them around on the map and without the risk of a unwanted erase, which might happen unnoticed, which would be the worst thing that could happen (to me).
write-protectable / write-once blueprints

I think you are just scratching upper 10 % of the iceberg-top of a big todo-feature-list for blueprints.
My opinion: This suggestion is good for it's own, but I think this will change a lot. For example loading/saving of blueprints. Or a better planning mode. Modifying blueprints in a editor... there are really a lot of very good features. Especially the load/save for blueprints would make your suggestion obsolete. I think the vision is here, that you can go into some kind of map-editor and then edit/save/load blueprints.
Meanwhile I recommend to use mods like Bluepprint string https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... =14&t=6742 or foreman https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... =14&t=6516

Add blueprint lock in book
TL;DR
Be able to lock the blueprint pages in a book, preventing them from accidentally taking out, and getting lost. What ?
I try to store all my important blueprints in my book.I notices the UI of the blueprint book is ok, but can use a bit of improvements.
When pasting a blueprint it happens so now and then i take the blueprint out of the book by accident, and the next time i need it, it isnt in my book anymore.
At first i thought this problem was specifically between my keyboard and my chair (= the player), but i noticed that a friend of mine who plays factorio as well had the exact same issue.
Something that would be really helpfull and is (most likely) just a small tweak of the game, is be able to lock/unlock a blueprint book. Enabling and disabling the (accidental) removal of blueprint pages.
Why ?
It will make blueprints more use friendly and improve UI (+ remove the frustration of losing blueprints by accident)-

Re: Add blueprint lock in book
The point of having a blueprint book is that you can place blueprints by holding the book. ie you never need to click them inside the book. If you want to have an individual blueprint item get it from your library. Taking it from the library will copy it rather than moving it.
Blueprint lock
I think there should be a way to lock a book or blueprint to prevent accidental modifications.
Maybe there is a way already but didn’t see it.

Re: write-protectable / write-once blueprints
This would be helpful for me because my rail books are always deeply nested, making it impractical to cycle while holding the book. I have to dig in and pull out the sub-book that has what I want.
