Let me Start off by stating I know nothing of modding or coding.
I was just thinking about power armor and how cool that is then it came to me, modular vehicles. I think it would be really awesome to make vehicles similar to power armor where you can add a whole host of different modules to them. I was thinking things like weapons, armor, speed, shields,... thinks that can give each vehicle you make have its own special purpose. Then to further expand upon these new beefed up bitter killers maybe something like a remove control module to send unmanned vehicles in your stead. If a remote control module is possible it opens the door to a totally new way of bitter killing. You can then make modules that would attract bitters so they attack your tank vehicles while your high attack power vehicles tear them up. modules to change the target of the vehicle and maybe even make it compatible with the satellite mod so you would be able to send a fleet of your customized vehicles to take care of bitters from the safety of your base.
Well that's my idea. Let me know if you think it's cool, or stupid and if you think such a mod is possible.

Equipment grids are already available for vehicles to use.
However, the vanilla game does not have them enabled.
You need to use a mod that enables the equipment grid, or adds equipment with the grid enabled.

Modules for wehicles
TL;DR
Diiferent modules for wehiclesWhat ?
Modules for example. How it can be.
1. Battle modules
- mine deployer | drive and deploy mines to prevent enemy pursuit
- heavy armor | more armor
- turret | use your wehicle like automatic turret
- bonecrusher | increases impact damage
- fire-bearer | use your wehicle like land torpedo
- repair system | repairs wehicle from inside, uses repeir kits
2. Scouting
- radar | better overview
- offroad stuff | reduces ground speed debuff
- afterburner | increases top speed
- rail wheels | jump to rails and use railroad like a train
- amphibian | water is not a problem
3. Engeneering
- rail deployer | deploy railroad when drive
- saw | chop trees
- chest | bigger wehicle inventory
- droneport | wehicle like an orange chest for drones
