Show servers with different game version

Post by itsonlyaname »

When searching for a server i noticed that instead of saying "this server is running a higher version, please update your game" it simply does not show up in the game list at all.
Might even be a bug since the game does list the server version.

Bonus: if people already updated their client & someone hosts an older version (usually because the mods haven't been updated yet) they wouldn't see it either.

This should also be a feature with LAN games. Instead of telling the players that their game version is different, it just shows nothing, leaving the players wondering.

Factorio only shows you servers that match the version you are using on purpose, because you won't be able to play on a server that has a different version installed. You can disable this filtering in the config file if you want to see games that run on a different version:

Code: Select all

[other]
use_version_filter_in_browse_games_gui=false
I agree with Xeanoa though that it should display all games when searching for LAN games, as there are probably not that many games running at any time in a LAN.

Thanks daniel34, that worked :).

This could be expanded with a "game version" dropdown below mods/password if the game goes minecraft-style and has extremely huge mods that can take weeks/months to update, but right now pretty much everyone updates right away it seems.
