Machine Input/Output Hud is confusing

In the machine hud, the input (for energy) is sometimes on top (ex. Burner mining drill) and sometimes on bottom (ex. Stone furnace).
The layout for the turrets is also weird because I expect to see the ammo input above my inventory.
