TL;DR: If I burn a wooden chest with many items in it, the resulting energy is about, what's needed to create that items in optimal cases.
Simple idea:
The wood-chest can be burned (See https://wiki.factorio.com/index.php?title=Fuel )
Now we combine that with this idea: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=19343 Boxing
So if I burn a chest with boxed items in it, it produces more energy, than an empty one. And the increase should be about equal to the amount of energy that is needed for production.
Prerequisite of this suggestion is something like Boxing - that you can put items into items.
