Link maps

In all building strategy games I wanted a feature to link maps together.

Let's say a friend and I both are building separate factories; or I built two factories. It would be great if we could join the two factories together. Like a giant blueprint in the map editor mode or something like that.

I'm aware that some problems arise from the map setting like richness, frequencies of resources etc. But this could easily be fixed by just providing new setting for the joined map.
