I'm not sure if this has been discussed before.
What I'd like to have is that trains would have a built in radar.
Like this all the trains would be visible as if the player would sit inside.
No more lost trains and all trains are visible on the map.
I think it would also make sense from a game-play perspective.
Edit:
Or maybe a slot in the train for a radar which then enables this feature...
Also I'm not sure how big the performance impact would be, e.g. in a mega base like the on from colonel will.
But for me it makes a lot of sense that trains can somehow be observed.
The train radar would not need to scan the are but could preferably be the same as the players "fov".

Re: Trains have built-in radars
There is a mod, that I can really recommend (But I think it's a must for the vanilla):

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Re: Trains have built-in radars
Thanks a lot for the reply.
As interesting mods are, I really try not to use them because it makes updating harder sometimes.
So I would very much appreciate having it in vanilla

Your problem; you might need to wait a very looooong time, until that comes into vanilla and updating with this mod is really no problem. In the very, very worst case you need to remove this mod.

Thanks for the warning. I'm aware of the low priority of this change.
I was just browsing through the mods and I will probably not being able to stop after installing the first mod

Re: Trains have built-in radars
I actually kinda like unseen trains. A bit.
It provides a feeling of the world being huge and not just something you could pan around at your leisure.
If only there was a more intelligent train controller, to prevent deadlocks.
Then again, there's that mod, smart trains I believe, which informs you about trains going missing, so that you could gear up and wade into the unknown, sometimes simply discovering a minor problem in refueling, sometimes discovering a huge problem that has grown vast base right through your rails.

I do mods. Modding wiki is friend, it teaches how to mod. Api docs is friend too...
I also update mods, some of them even work.
Recently I did a mod tutorial.
