Conveyor belt blocker

It would be extremely helpful to block the line of items on one side of a conveyor belt while the other side continues on. Like when creating red science: iron and copper on the same belt. I want to be able to stop the iron, but let the copper continue on, the copper will wrap around gear assembly machines and the gears drop on. See below:

It would be great to have an item here (even just made from wood) to block the iron plates. The conveyor belt would continue so the copper moves on.

And yes I could just use a smart inserter:

But that wastes power, and might not always drop the item onto the correct side of the belt.

May not be as convenient as an item to block half of a conveyor but this works well for some situations.
Especially that one you have there.

The underground conveyors are "Blocked" on the back half. (Inserters can still place and take from them without any problems.

Perhaps it would be easier to introduce a green smart splitter where you can put filters on each output.

The trick will be that the filter will act as a block. Ie it prevents the selected item passing through.
Implemented this way it will be less likely to block up if foreign material lands on the belt.

As already stated in many other discussions, there little to no chance, that new types of belts with only one functionality will be added, cause the "mess" is part of the puzzling part of the game.

To block only one side you can use only one piece of underground belt.
You can also switch line sides.

Just a random tip, making faster corners like you did there isn't necessary anymore since 0.12.

This picture is from the wiki. Can you guess how old it is? Hint: What's that other material next to iron plates?
