I'm sorry to report from such an old version, but i wasn't able to reproduce it in a newly generated world since i died too fast
If a biter dies on a belt, its body is shown between belt and the items running on it. So the items do sometimes "hover" over the biter. I have no idea if this is wanted or how it can be removed, but it looks really funny... Screenshot is attached.
