A question, how did you go so long without posting and secondly, why would you need an account in th first place if you only look at posts, not add to them.
This doesn't make sense...

No, because bots sometimes create accounts and ... don't post with them until some time, and there is no upper boundary limit to this delay.

ah...didn't consider that.
May be to a greater advantage to start posting immediately.
Moderators may not be able to get wind of them before they at least spam a dozen topics.
Aaaand then all of their spamming is deleted, good for them.

Actually, new accounts' posts now have to be approved before they are visible to the other users.
So whatever the delay between account creation and the first post, we can prevent most of the spam.
