Please considr having a sub forum for advanced technics and UPS optimizaiton, regardless of circuit / bot / belt.

I watch the posts in show your creations and I think there is eventually a rising need for such a subboard.

What do other moderators think?

Its definitely the most active category at the moment.
But it could also fit into the "Mechanical Throughput Magic" category - if we let go of the "circuit free" restriction.

Many threads in there hit the "but that would no longer be completely circuit free" wall.

Well, if you add circuits only to measure something, I don’t see the problem to post it to mechanical magic. Perhaps we should change the topic rules a bit?

Besides that it’s a different target. When I’m optimizing for throughput I see it in mechanical magic, but when I optimize for UPS its most times about throughput, but might be looking completely different. Yes, both go hand in hand, but in detail it differs hard.

TY for looking into this. I'm to start a "Let's build a 10.8k spm sub-bases", first for Red Science, the Green etc if there will be an interest.

They can fit to Show your Creations -> Medium/Big/Gigantic Sized Structures.

For smaller topics I can add a simple circuit to check if the belt has gaps and go to circuit...

This is a great idea. I'd love to better understand what I should do to help UPS (trains or belts? how bad are boxes? does killing biters outside of the pollution cloud help anything?).

I'm a bit late, but I also think that it totally makes sense.
Factorio has had its community slowly raise in expertise, now the subjects I'm expecting to see more and more are about how to shave a UPS there and there so that the factory can keep growing.
