server-settings.json default location

Post by derkork »

Hi,

I'm setting up a factorio server at a server provider where I have limited access to the command line. I have create a server-settings.json file by copying the example and modifying it however it doesn't seem to be picked up by the server (i set a password in there but i still can join the game without password). That makes me wonder - do I HAVE to specify the --server-settings parameter in order to pick up the server-settings.json or is there a default location where I can just drop that file and the server will pick it up automatically?

I think the answer to this is yes, you do need to specify the settings file with the --server-settings param.
I just drop my server settings file and server save file right next to the factorio.exe and don't have any issues.

I can confirm that if it remains in the ../factorio/data folder, then you definitely have to specify the location of the server-settings file on a headless Linux system in Factorio 0.14.12.

On my way to see if I can update the Wiki.
