Multiplayer - One Person ruins it

Post by Tartaros »

Hello Community,

We are really frustrated...

We wanted to play with 4 people.

With 3 works fine, but when the fourth joins its lagging (before he is connecting) and he cant download the map (and our upload is 100B or something like this)...
His upload explodes, but he just wants do download it...

We tried to host it on every of our computers, with port, without port, with an own server... Please help...

Greetings
Tartaros

Not a expert but I host on the beast PC for 3 people ( including me ) by listen server with 8 mods and it runs lagfree, there are sometimes hangups, frame freezes.

But this is mostly happening when someone else alt-tabs/does something in the windows background/open random programs like skype/steam etc, especially when his PC is really not that good.
Otherwise it works fine for us.

I think you need a really good PC to host, not sure if its helpful enough but have a bump anyways. You could try to host via dedicated server tools?

The actual time difference won't matter, but the distance can if it creates lag. Try increasing the "lag" setting when the host starts the game. Obviously having less lag is more desirable, but this setting is somewhat confusing. It doesn't set how much lag there will be, only how much lag the game automatically compensates for.

Same time zone - and we were hosting on a really good PC, it worked fine with all, only when the one player joined.... or better: tried to join, it was impossible for him to join and impossible for us to upload the map - we couldnt even quit the game without alt+f4 ....
