Wood in the desert?

Wood in the desert?
After depleting the 200-tile-radius neighborhood of tree stumps I found myself not even close to being able to make phenolic boards yet. I gave up and installed the greenhouse mod. Did I miss some viable approach, or is the wood-heavy starting requirement just not a good match for desert biomes?

Yeah, it pretty much just doesn't work very well in a desert.
I'm thinking of making some kind of greenhouse myself to help counter this issue.

A lot of people would be very happy to see a new mod to replace the old treefarm mod. The greenhouse mod isn't really the same, since it just perpetually generates wood with no input other than wood. Something that takes water, has some sort of growing cycle, etc. I bet with your chemicals you could even require fertilizer.
