Is it me or do the bots sound like the aliens from Signs?

Re: Bot sounds are creepin me out !
i actually find the bot sounds rather endearing. gives them a little personality (haven't seen '5igns' however)
Re: Bot sounds are creepin me out !
I thought they reminded me more of R2D2.

I keep picturing Protoss probes, but in a higher pitch.

Listening to the sound directly, its a mix of Radio tuners, Modem modulation, and fun with pitch distortion. Personally, I love the sound.
Steam Engines are the Heart Beat, AMs the cyclic sound of labor, but the robots.... they aren't just machines. They think, they communicate, their jobs are diverse, and they are basically an automated version of yourself. The sound they make is in disharmony to the steady, synchronous hum of the factory. But their noises are also rhythmic, which creates a syncopation within the factory's soundscape. The deviation is what affords them a small bit of "personality" that highlights their existence.... a bit of independent life within the otherwise mechanical precision of your factory.
