Charge the character from the base

Post by FactorMan »

Why in the game can not you recharge the batteries from the base network?

Related suggestion thread:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6866 Local power connector module for modular armor

According to that thread, a mod already exists which allows you to produce exchangable batteries.

I'm assuming that the devs think it would be OP. One portable fusion reactor produces 750 kw, and one steam engine produces 900 kw. Charging your power armor would be trivial to your power network, and a few batteries could last you quite a while.
There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.

Well, what the devs think is OP, the modders often fix

I don't think recharging/swapping batteries is really necessary, but then I usually don't bother too much with the earliest of modular armours.

I usually run around with two fusion reactors, six exoskeletons, three shields, nightvision, and two batteries (that serve as a power indicator and a shield buffer in extended combat with destroyer capsules). I swap out shielding for personal roboports when building. This is vanilla and it still seems pretty strong to me. The mods with more space and such just get silly.

As long as you are not into end-game, and have only portable solar panels, it would be SO useful to be able to power your modular armor from the grid.

If I had to guess it breaks the illusion? Gameplay terms has the poles provide an area where electric charge is given, but really what happens is that a wire is run down to power the machine. Not shown for graphical reasons.

The player running through and having to plug in seems...silly to me.
