Speed and Productivity vs Efficiency Moduls

Post by MisterSpock »

Lets say u want to optimise your solid fuel production. Im only converting light Oil into solid fuel and using advanced oil processing!

So i do some Math on Paper:

Option a) Tier3 Speed Moduls in Pumpjack + Tier3 Productivity in Reffinery and Chemical Plant

Numbers are for one Pumpjack and optimal amount of processing buildings:
EnergyOutput: 1,6MW
EnergyInput: 0,6MW
=> Netto Energy Output: 1,0 MW (per pumpjack)

One Reffinery is optimized for 7 Pumpjacks and 3,2 Chemical Plants.

Option b) all buildings with tier2 efficiency moduls

EnergyOutput: 0,5MW
EnergyInput: 0,0MW
=> Netto Energy Output: 0,5 MW (per pumpjack)

One Reffinery is optimized for 20 Pumpjacks and 2,8 Chemical Plants

Summary:
Option a is much more efficient per Pumpjack. Also you get 288% (188% more) of Petroleum Gas and Heavy Oil compared to Option b. So putting efficiency moduls in is only cheaper but not better on the long term.

That's why effectivity modules aren't meant to be used alone. Use them with a speed or productivity module to counter the large energy consumption and pollution that those last two modules create.

Productivity modules seem to be mainly used in places where resources are scarce. Currently, alien artifacts and their products are the most feasible options on where to use them.
