Optimal science pack production

Post by BiscuitCookie »

The ones for SP1 and 2 are on the wiki but not the one for SP3. So I thought to myself to expand upon the current ones and find out the one for SP3.

First I'll show the simple versions:

1 Gear assembler β†’ 10 SP1 assemblers. Also requires 5 furnaces on copper.
Requires 9 furnaces on iron.

2 Inserter assemblers + 1 Belt assembler β†’ 24 SP2 assemblers.
Requires 40 furnaces on iron and 14 on copper.

1 Smart Inserter assemblers + 16 advanced circuit assemblers + 10 Battery plants β†’ 24 SP3 assemblers. Also requires 22 furnaces for steel which requires 23 furnaces on iron.
Requires 17 furnaces on iron and 35 furnaces on copper.

Keep in mind that this only counts when all assemblers are the same type and no modifiers are used. SP3 is calculated for assembly 3 since Sp3 requires assembly 3 to be built. Furnaces are calculated as electric/steel when feeding assembly 3.
Also while this is optimal that doesn't mean it's feasible.

If you would want to have all SPacks made at the same tempo you would need 5 SP1 assemblers, 6 SP2 assemblers and 12 SP3 assemblers (and 12 sp4 assemblers) with which you would end up at 1.25 SPacks per second on assembly 3. Which on average could supply 37 labs.

Now the detailed version of SP2 and SP3:

Code: Select all

For 24 SP2 Assemblers

         2 Inserter assemblers + 1 Belt assembler
                  ↑ ↑
2 Gear assemblers + 2 Circuit assemblers 1 Gear assembler
                            ↑
                      3 Wire assemblers

Code: Select all

For 240 SP3 assemblers

10 Smart Inserter assemblers + 160 Advanced Circuit assemblers + 100 Battery plants
                                         ↑ ↑ ↑
10 Fast Inserter assemblers + 40 Circuit assemblers 20 Wire assemblers + 20 Circuit assemblers + 20 Plastic plants 8 Sulfuric Acid plants
                      ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑
↑ 60 Wire assemblers 30 Wire assemblers 20 Sulfur plants
                      ↑
                      ↑
             10 Inserter assemblers + 20 Circuit assemblers
                   ↑ ↑
10 Gear assemblers + 10 Circuit assemblers 30 Wire assemblers
                            ↑
                      15 Wire assemblers
