Will this game go mobile
I'm hoping for this game to be on an ipad or android device in the not to distant future. Any plans that anyone know of?

I don't think we will see it on mobile any time soon just look at how long it took minecraft to go mobile
The more complicated the game the better
Re: Will this game go mobile
Considering that they'd have to re-code the game for iOS and Android, it seems very unlikely unless the game grows quite big.
I wouldn't count on it.

Our graphics library runs on iphone .. so it wouldn't be so much of recoding, but the gui would need a custom version.
Re: Will this game go mobile
if it goes mobile, my suggestion would be to remove the character. Let mining be handled with taps, and building with taps, and not require WASD control.
Then tablet players can blissfully create machines and kill creepers.

I for one would love a portable ( read iphone or pad version) of this game, heck I'd buy a tablet just to be able to play it when my puter isn't available, and more than likely it would be the only game on it

That would actually be pretty cool to have it go mobile. I could play on my tablet when I don't feel like sitting at the desk or am out of the house. Like playing Factory on a road trip.
Though I can see how it would possibly be tedious to do some of the things...

I sure hope not.. Moving away from my computer is the only thing that helps my Factorio addiction, if it went mobile there'd be no escaping it.
Re: Will this game go mobile
You underestimate the CPU power requirements for the Factorio.
Early game is light on the CPU, but factory tends to grow fast and not linearly. At the mid-game you probably gonna start to notice it starts to run slow and closer to the end-game it will just be unplayable. On top - it's just gonna melt you mobile device running at constant 100% CPU load.
Hell, factorio brings to it's knees my Q6600 that is 7 years old, the fastest ARM processor there is hasn't reached even that level of raw power.
Yes, ARM processors became quite fast, they are capable. But the gap between a top-notch ARM system and even a middle end PC gaming rig is very big. ARM processors are not really built for speed, they are built to be energy-efficient.

I think that may be something that will happen a few years from now, when phones are more capable and factorio is a classic

What do you mean, when Factorio is a classic?

Re: Will this game go mobile
I don't personally care too much about mobile, but how about a general ARM build? We know that the game runs on ARM as it's on the Switch, and I'd really like a Pi 5 (or maybe one of the new Qualcomm laptops) to play it on
Oh, I'd also love an ARM server build for similar reasons

Re: Will this game go mobile
well... for a mobile port (especifically android) the game will need like a LOT of optimization, bc maybe at early game you can easily hit 60 ups, but at end game that is very hard
