Left-handed Key Mapping?

Post by DanielCoffey »

As a new Factorio player, I would appreciate some guidance from other Lefties... how have you set up your key mappings?

I have worked out how to get away from WASD for movement but of course there is Tab, E, R and so on to deal with.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

An odd keyboard, I must admit.

I have the Wacom tablet on my left which has a few buttons on it (and of course the scroll ring) but at the moment I am looking at the arrow keys as they are close to R-Ctrl, R-Shift and R-Alt. I have not yet thought much about E, Q and Tab but the Del, End and PgDown keys are right above the arrows so I will think about mapping those once I have got used to the game a little.

I would not recommend using any left handed gadgets for computer stuff, if you get to used to it you pretty much cut yourself from the rest of the world :). I tried some but changed it back to the standard. Problem is, if you have to use a normal keyboard/mouse, your muscle memory will fail you.

I use the arrow keys for movement. The [ ] for zoom. ">" "?" ";" " '" are my standard keys for things you need recurring. the Q key was the fist key I changed - it cancels selections and switches weapons. As usual, if it comes to key layout, you have to be a little creative :).
