How to prepare game in 0.12 to 0.13?
Hello to all.
0.13 is near, and I want to ask - what should I do to prepare game in version 0.12 to version 0.13?
My draft is:
1) Delete mods (or, a softer version, delete mods one by one while the game will not start).
2) ...
Are there any recommendations ?

Get a few hours of sleep before hand?
I love the smell of concrete paving robots in the morning .... it smells like Factorio

To be safe, you may want to remove smart chests if you have any.

I'll probably just download it first from the web page to get a standalone version of it. I'll first run it without mods and then copy over my mods folder + save from 0.12.
If things break I'll try to figure out what mods work and what don't. If not too many things are broken I'll see if I can fix stuff myself. If I can't I'll probably just continue with my 0.12 game until mods update.
I haven't paid too much attention but it seems like there shouldn't be breaking changes in mods, just probably balance is off.
[edit]
Major thing to do for anyone planning to update, make backups of your mods/saves before moving to new version. It's an experimental and things will almost certainly not break but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Hmm, I think that smart chests will be automatically replaced on the steel chest... I think...Jarin wrote:To be safe, you may want to remove smart chests if you have any.

I'll be removing mods and doing a vanilla playthrough first.
Running mods from the start is like seasoning your host's food without tasting it first. Plus mods will make it harder to determine the source of early bugs.

I'm also concerned over what will disable Achievements. Was there ever any info on if mods will stop that?

Mods will disable achievements, even if they are purely cosmetic (such as WaiTex or mods for colorblind people).GameJunky wrote:I'm also concerned over what will disable Achievements. Was there ever any info on if mods will stop that?

Will this be changed in future?daniel34 wrote:Mods will disable achievements, even if they are purely cosmetic (such as WaiTex or mods for colorblind people).GameJunky wrote:I'm also concerned over what will disable Achievements. Was there ever any info on if mods will stop that?
Vanilla is good, of course, but some mods give excellent comfort while playing, which is not presented in vanilla, although they don't change gameplay and don't break balance.
About 0.13: so, no need to do something on map? Train stations changes etc.

Console will disable achievements ?
Re: How to prepare game in 0.12 to 0.13?
Pretty sure it won't.Mion wrote:Will this be changed in future?
It's not possible to detect if a mod makes game-changing modifications or it's just a cosmetic/convenience one. Allowing any sort of modding with achievements will make it possible to create mods that essentially auto-grant achievements to people.
