I just went with a very simplistic approach as you have infinite iron and copper:
Just made a simple blueprint of basic gun turrets with belts in between and some requester chests in the beginning to request Armour piercing bullets.
Just fill 1 chunk for small, 2 chunks (hit F5 to see the chunks) next to the territory border and with the blueprint and wait till all turrets have bullets.
Then just built a bit in the territory and it will charge at your turrets.
I basically took out all the small and medium worms this way.
The large ones need more heavy firepower, but just like you, I'm not there yet hahah
Vulcanus: Kill the worms
Re: Vulcanus: Kill the worms
I was heading for "logisitc embargo" and science from another planet achievements in my first playthrough, went for Vulcanus as my first palnet. And what I can say that you can fight and kill the small worm in close combat just with your personal equipment. Advice is to have something the worm will be baited for, cause sometimes land can restrict your maneuvers.
Re: Vulcanus: Kill the worms
I used a grid of 15 x 12 turrets with red ammo. Lure the (small) worm in and replace losses. It's an easy early tactic until you get better weapons tech. Vulcanus is the land of infinite iron and copper after all.

Things that I know will work are anything uranium related, particularly the tank for small ones. I don't think tank will work for medium without upgrades. Shock turrets from Fulgora will work on small ones because it arcs down every segment. But you need about 16 of them and expect losses. A medium one will zap them with fire eyes before they can work, unless you have a more intense density or perhaps a power switch to change the engagement pattern I will say it appears the demolisher can't "Hear" turrets. But it can see them.
For medium 120 rounds of artillery with 1 upgrade in each category will work (I was using the map editor). That was 24 guns being fed by bog standard blue arms. So you might try 240 ammo-36 guns when using real ammo. Try a gun train for storage and then place the guns next to it for loading, I know it's a lot of inventory to move at once.
When tanking, know that it has a blind spot in the back. That won't save you if you don't engage with DU. But it will keep your vehicle from being cooked toasty.
They aren't so bad and I plan on keeping a medium wiggly as a pet. I love 'em.
