Custom scenario world?
Custom scenario world?
Just how big is this bloody thing? I set it up with a lifetime of basic Recs's close, and now I'm just setting up firebases to go out and kill bugs. I think I've got 20k in alien artifacts, and counting. But, it's fun smashing bugs, and looking towards A New Clean World!...if I only knew how big.

Re: Custom scenario world?
map can be infinite...
This means you can travel in a straight line for weeks straight before you end up overflowing something technical.

The game will keep creating segments as you go along, though I do think it's finite? I've seen edges where they're filled with water, but haven't yet looked around entirely. Most worlds should be more than big enough for you.
(Do make sure to check around at the start to make sure you're not on a small island. Has happened occasionally.

It is finite. but so big it will tack you some time to get there but odd you run in to water be for that.
Re: Custom scenario world?
Unless you entered a height and width for the map, the map size is infinite.
Due to the way the map is generated, it still might be possible that you're on an island with no way to additional land. Most of the time you'll find out very soon in your gameplay. If you revealed a lot of the map already and most of it is land, the probability of you being on an island is very low.
The only actual limitation for map size is the amount of memory in your machine.
Should you actually be on an island (or want a bridge over a huge area of water), I recommend the Landfill mod.

As some other people have mentioned, the map is pretty much infinite. Really the only thing stopping you from just exploring forever is your computers technical limitations like the memory and such reqiured.

The limitation of the coordinates in the save file is -2^23, 2^23 which is 8 million tiles according to https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-64
Re: Custom scenario world?
So, basically I can jeep exploring until my 'puter screams and dies?
Re: Custom scenario world?
As far as being on an Island, I don't think so; Looks more like The World of a Million Large Lakes in here.
And a LOT of bugs.
And a LOT of bugs.
Re: Custom scenario world?
The longer I run this world, the bigger the Bug nests get. Gotten to the point where I can't Rambo my way through them, but have to hit and run...lol.
