This is a bit silly but I can't find my save files.
I looked in Documents and Documents/MyGames which is where saves usually go. I looked in the game directory too, I can't find it there either.
I'm sure I forgot to look somewhere obvious.
Where are the saves stored?
Re: Where are the saves stored?
Is it windows?
Did you use the installer?
If so, there should be shortcut saves in the Factorio directory.
Anyway, the path is Users/[User name]/AppData/Roaming/Factorio/saves

No, I prefer the zip files. Thanks!

To be honest I hate when the game has the saves in the windows messy structure.Xinvoker wrote:No, I prefer the zip files. Thanks!
The only reason we were forced to do it this way is, that when people use the installer, they install it usualy into program files, and the application can't write to that location.
But the zip installer is usualy different story, it might be better if the zip installation had save folder in the game directory by default.
Re: Where are the saves stored?
Call it "portable" and make sure it only ever does anything inside its own directory. Factorio on a stick, anyone?

The more complicated the game the better
Re: Where are the saves stored?
And you hardlink to the /AppData/Roaming/Factorio/Saves files? Because that's where they save, regardless of where you install the actual game into :-/ All I can think of would be creating *.lnk files, hardlinks, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass, fiddling with command prompt and all that.mindreader wrote:My factorio is on Dropbox. Wait for the 0.2.8, I solved that issue there.
You can specify in special config file (in the root of the application), if it should use local files for saves/config etc or the system.
The zip package is configured to use local by default (self sustainable directory of factorio), so if you download the zip installation and put it on the usb, you can play it on any computer while keeping all your data (saves, scenarios, config, player-data) located on the usb.
PS. This is one of the things that bugged me in Minecraft, lack of this simple feature
