Biters spawning inside my base?

I started a new game a couple days ago in 0.10.12 and recently I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure out how biters keep getting inside my walled off base.

Just now I saw about 7 biters spawn a few feet away from me and start attacking. Obviously there's no spawner inside my base. Does anyone know what's going on? Can biters just spawn anywhere now?

Usually this is caused by a missing piece of wall near water.

Wall isn't missing, and I'm watching them just appear in random places in my base.

So THATS where my teleporting biters went! **sarcasm**

But really, did they spawn while on screen? What about mods?
