[0.17.21] Enemies armor?
Re: [0.17.21] Enemies armor?
Do flame turrets still deal infinity damage against biters? The perspective on balance may change dramatically when biters don't get death sentenced by a drop of oil.

Yup. Some dev really likes barbecued biters I guess xD
That said, each of the three turrets has their point where they're the best to use in the course of a game, so at least it's balanced in that sense.

I wouldn't expect too much to change with respect to flame turrets. They do three sources of damage:bobucles wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2019 12:06 am Do flame turrets still deal infinity damage against biters? sticker: 100 dps (death sentence: 3000 damage-over-time)
direct aoe: 90 dps (the tooltip damage: stacks with multiple throwers)
die-in-a-fire: 78 dps
Which get massively multiplied by upgrades.
The death sentence is pretty important for the handheld thrower but is only slightly more than a third of the damage that enemies suffer when standing under the firehose and even less if more than 1 Flamethrower is shooting. If the death sentence went away either of the other damage sources would still be instant death to smalls and mediums and you'd basically just get a damage upgrade and it'd be doing about the same damage to bigs. Flamethrower is kind of bad against Behemoths, it works but takes a long time to burn them away.
If the death sentence were nerfed it'd be a big nerf to handheld thrower but not much for the stationary one (especially with the kind of setups players tend to use, with walls to hold the biters in place).

Calling it "infinity damage" is kinda misleading, since you still have to survive for the time it takes the biter to burn to death. Oil wells are technically infinite too, but I don't see many people calling them imbalanced.bobucles wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2019 12:06 am Do flame turrets still deal infinity damage against biters? It also only get applied when you hit the biter directly with a flamethrower shot, as opposed to it walking over a fire.
