There is no achievement for no logistic robots that I see, at least listed here. I believe what you may be thinking of is "Logistic network embargo, Win the game without building Active provider chest and requester chest." That is, no blue or purple chests, which is considerably less restrictive than no logistic bots at all. Logi robots, red and yellow chests, and personal logistic slots, and being personally supplied from same, are perfectly fine. (I got that achievement fairly recently, and I did use logistic robots in this latter capacity in that game. Though of course I never built a blue or purple chest until after the game was won. )Daid wrote:Hardest part was that I did the "no logistic robots" achievement at the same time. Which means you do a lot of "grab this from there"

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
Well, I have just finished this. I have to say it was quite fun. I really liked the early part after researching automation 2. Crafting even wooden boxes in assembler felt somehow more satisfying.
My total craft count was 102. I crafted one extra furnace for boiler at the beginning, because I didn't want to wait until I had enough resources to start researching. The second mistake was an iron chest I accidentally crafted. Since I was already loading up the rocket, I let it slide.

Strangely, I did not finish the Raining Bullet achievement for not building any laser turrets. Anyone having the same problem?
Maybe it is because I researched the lasers.

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
Don't know what causing it. When loading a save when you check the achievement menu, is the achievement marked as not doable anymore ? If yes try searching if you have multiple save when it become not doable and try to recall what have you done at that time. You surely place a laser turret by mistake and removed it juste after. Even if a turret hasn't fire, it disable the achievement.
If it is marked as still doable you should send a bug report with a save juste before launching the rocket. So they can investigate why the achievement is not unlocked.

You can research lasers (and laser turrets) and get the achievement, you are just not allowed to build them.Grimakar wrote:Strangely, I did not finish the Raining Bullet achievement for not building any laser turrets. Anyone having the same problem?

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
I think lasers are prerequisite for the rocket somewhere along the way, I just didn't even build them.I have also never used the laser shoulder canon, just to be safe.
Edit: Nope, laser is , but not laser turret, I have never even researched laser turrets.
One other thing that might be mucking up your achievements is the factorio version. I have finished my play in 1.4.7, but when I upgraded to 1.4.9 I couldn't load my saves and there was a message saying that the game lost track of my achievements. After I rolled back to 1.4.8 it started working again.

I don't really understand why so tight a condition is.humroben wrote:With the new recipes, 108 items need to be manually crafted, only 3 item buffer left if you make a mistake
Be it a margin of 50 items -- will it be not a LazyBastard condition anymore?
It's so easy to hand-craft by mistake.
Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
When you do a lazy bastard achievement, you can pin the achievement to keep track of the number, and you can rebind the key to craft to something that will never be use by mistake.LazyLoneLion wrote:I don't really understand why so tight a condition is.humroben wrote:With the new recipes, 108 items need to be manually crafted, only 3 item buffer left if you make a mistake

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
You can use the stone furnace you start with for your first boiler, and the assembly machine 1 you hand crafted earlier for your assembly machine 2. I haven't launched a rocket yet, but I'm working through a 0.15 lazy bastard run, I have a large base including an assembly machine 3 making oil refineries, so I need no more hand crafts, and I'm on 106 of 111 crafts.humroben wrote:I'd like to add an update to this for Factorio 0.15.x. Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
Fiddling with recipe and research cost modifiers can make this achievement impossible, can't it?
Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
Yes. Setting recipes to expensive would require 200+ hand crafts.Kametec wrote:Fiddling with recipe and research cost modifiers can make this achievement impossible, can't it?

It's so easy to hand-craft by mistake.
But why? What for?
Will the achievement be broken somehow, if we define it as "no more than 200 handcrafts"? It will make game a little faster and simpler, but in the end it will be the same.
It's as good as the question why not give 4 miners and 2 forges from the start (instead of 1+1). It will only make the bootstrap faster and less boring.

So, in v0.15.19 the absolute minimum is 106?

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
It looks like it, yes.Sander_Bouwhuis wrote:So, in v0.15.19 the absolute minimum is 106?
The starting items are enough to get some raw resources done, albeit slowly.
You'll eventually need electricity, which means:
1 pump (2 circuits, 1 pipe, 1 gear): +8
1 boiler (1 furnace, 4 pipes - but the starting furnace can be used): +5
1 steam engine (5 pipes, 8 gears): +14
1 power pole: (1 wood, 1 copper cable - you'll get two, of course): +3
= 30 crafts
To kickstart science and get your first assembler:
1 science lab (10 circuits, 10 gears, 4 belts): +40
10 red science (for automation): +20
1 assembler (3 circuits, 5 gears - you'll end up with 1 extra copper cable): +14
= 74 crafts
Once you have a level 2 assembler, almost everything can be automated:
1 level 2 assembler (all ingredients can be automated, and you already have a level 1 assembler): +1
You'll need oil before you can research automation 3, and since an oil refinery takes 5 ingredients a level 2 assembler won't do:
1 oil refinery (again, all ingredients can be automated): +1
So that's 30 + 74 + 1 + 1 = 106.
What I found interesting about this achievement is that it really teaches you the benefits of automating things. Before doing a Lazy Bastard run I tended to hand-craft a lot of things, which limited the scope of my factories. Now, one of the first things I do is set up some infrastructure assemblers - belts, inserters, assemblers, miners, and so on. It just makes later factory-building that much easier.

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
The interesting thing is, in the end I had about 2.5k worth of solar panels. Every time I had a power shortage I thought, "Shoot, I really should have automated this", and would then proceed creating 32 by hand.
Now that I will embark on a 'nothing by hand' play-through I guess I'll not run into that problem.
A little scared, but I'm going to start doing it!
One thing... in what order should things be built?
0. Get enough raw materials to build all of the 106 items at once
1. Electricity (for assembling machines and laboratories)
2. Lab/research (for automation)
3. Assembling machine 1
4. Assembling machine 2
5. Oil refinery
Is that correct?
So, in the beginning everything has to be harvested by hand?

After a bit more playing I'll probably start achievement hunting. I'll give this strategy a try!

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
You start with a burner miner and stone furnace, so all you need to do manually is chop down trees for fuel. With 1 and 2, the order doesn't matter - just keep in mind that if you use your starting furnace to craft the boiler, you can no longer smelt iron and copper until you've got a level 1 assembler. Once you've got that assembler, you can create another furnace and start smelting again. Science packs can now be 'automated' by switching the assembler between gears and red science packs. Once you've got a level 2 assembler you can create almost anything (including more assemblers, electric miner drills, and so on), so you can start scaling up your factory. The only exception is that oil refineries take 5 ingredients, so you'll need a level 3 assembler for them - but those depend on oil products, so you'll have to craft one refinery by hand. Once you have a level 3 assembler you can also ramp up oil refining, and build the rocket silo and satellite.Sander_Bouwhuis wrote:One thing... in what order should things be built?

Re: Lazy Bastard Achievement - No hand crafting challenge
Ok, this is what you need to create the required items in v0.15.19:
So, if you make sure you have these items, you can create anything you want after that.
Now that you have (and can make) all the resources you want, you need 1 item for assembling machine 2 and 1 item for the first oil refinery for a total of 106 items.
Code: Select all
Item Count TotCount Stone Wood Coal IronPlates CopperPlates
Offshore pump 8 8 5 3
Boiler 5 13 4
Steam engine 14 27 31
Small electric pole 3 30 1 1
Lab 39 69 36 15
Science pack 1 21 90 20 10
Research automation 1 5
Assembling machine 1 14 104 22 5
Stone furnace 5
--- --- --- --- ---
Total 5 1 5 118 34
Now that you have (and can make) all the resources you want, you need 1 item for assembling machine 2 and 1 item for the first oil refinery for a total of 106 items.
