This. I don't want to open up a discussion about it, but you (the mod) merged my first anticipation thread about 0.13 into this here, too; and this post is about a whole other aspect of 0.13, don't you agree?

My opinion is that we are overwhelmed by hysterical F5ers who flood the forum withe the byproducts of their impatience (*).
As a moderator, I feel that there is no added value to moderate 4 or 5 topics whose only purpose is for people to express the unsupportable impatience(*) they feel towards the 0.13.

All discussions about that are pointless : the devs do an amazing jog at getting things done before releasing, and the only thing to do is just chill and Netflix wait. I'm sure if you let me the time I can imagine 10 different declinations of hype topics about the 0.13 that I could justifi to be different enough to let them unmerged. The outcome will only be a swarm of topics that bring nothing useful to the community.

Most people would say I'm too strict, too rigid, too serious, but I deeply dislike anything that has to do with flood, count to 1000000, Ctrl-V, and other fundamentally off-topic useless stuff. I do make efforts to fight my natural inclination to lock all these topics, because well, I guess I'm just too strict. If the other moderators think I'm too strict and I should let people start many topics with tiny differences, then ok, I'll let as many hype train topics as people want. But until then, I moderate how my guts tell me I should do my mod job, with integrity, because I really care a lot about this forum.

To finish, I'm extremely impatient to see the 0.13 arrive, with all that stuff I've been waiting for a long time. I just keep it for myself.

I can absolutely understand. Just - maybe give us one hype thread, eh?
It's just that the Guess-The-Stable-Version Thread isn't - in my opinion - really a hype thread. Even the devs took part So I would rather prefer putting my one or two lines spent to the hype in a 0.13 anticipation thread than spamming some topic that has totally legitimate content (i.e. "when do you think it's stable?). In all other things you mentioned I'm generally speaking with you.

Come and Guess is an almost 6 month old thread and will probably go on until 0.13 is stable. I would consider 0.13 hype posts there off-topic and disrupting the original goal of that thread.

I also don't really get all the fuss about hype topics and agree we should merge them into one thread, but Come and Guess doesn't fall into the category of 0.13 (release) hype. I propose that instead all other hype threads get merged into this one.
