[1.0] Factorio.exe process won't stop when exiting the game

Whenever I exit Factorio, the game seems to be closed, but factorio.exe just stays around. On Steam the game will be displayed as "Running", but clicking the "Stop" button won't do anything. When i kill the process manually it just dies, and Steam says it's no longer running. If not closed manually, it will stay in that zombie state until I shut down my computer.

I usually play without mods, but when restarting the game to change the mod setup, this also happens. The game exits, but it won't start again until I close the older factorio.exe process.

I tried verifying the integrity of the game files and reinstalling it, but nothing has changed.

Please provide a logfile of one such incident. Without it, there is not much we can do.

I have solved this problem! It was NOT a problem with Factorio, but with Steam.

I noticed the same problem began happening with Terraria, so it had to be Steam.

All you have to do is reinstall Steam. To do so without losing your games, saves, config, etc. you have to download the Steam installer, and install it in your current install location. That fixed it for me.

I have the same problem.the process is still running and the achievements achieved in the game are locked in the steam library.
