Why is the game so poorly optimized?
Are there any improvements planned?

Why are you so rude and ignorant?
Do you plan on learning any manners?

I would like to see another game even try 1600k entities with 600k active do better.

You appear to think that the CPU is the only possible performance bottleneck. In Factorio this is not the case. The bandwidth and access times of the RAM are much more important, especially once the number of entities in your game grows very large. Or like in your case, the number of biters is very large. The game in fact spends most time with the pathfinder. Most likely the paths for the biters that attack you as reaction to artillery bombardment.

In this game you use Natural Evolution Enemies. As far as I remember, NE largely increases the number of biters, especially the small ones. I suspect that the performance will be better in a pure vanilla game that has a similarly large base. And even better if you entirely remove biters from your game.

Yep.

1. It's basically maxing out 1-4 threads already
2. Memory latency
3. Natural Evolution Enemies is already taking 38ms/tick, over twice as long as the total amount of time needed to maintain 60 UPS
4. Per 52433 / 68653 you need to post a log and save if you want anything to happen other than you complaining
5. If you can make have any examples of a game that can handle the same scale as Factorio with better performance I'd be interested in seeing that
There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.

Not sure if trying to be funny or just trolling.

Artillery always lags the hell out of my game ;( . I'd like using it if it weren't for a few range increases plummeting my ups.
I have mods! I guess!
