[0.16.51 macOS] "Browse mods" online mod-list takes a terrifically long time to load in

[0.16.51 macOS] "Browse mods" online mod-list takes a terrifically long time to load in

Every time I want to download a mod via the in-game "Browse mods" UI, I have to stare at this screen for 3 to 5 minutes (or in uncommon cases, never) before I can download anything:

The loading bar works and the UI responds, but the actual list takes a really long time to load in or it doesn't at all. Anyone know why?
