Game Crashes Upon Launch

I have been playing Factorio without any issues for the past few weeks. Steam recently updated to its latest version which includes the new announcements tab at the top right. I attempted to launch Factorio and the game created 10 - 30 tabs in quick succession which were all icon-less and crashed instantly. The Windows then said it failed to initialized (Error Code 1). I verified the integrity of the game files but the problem persisted. I would like to know what to do to fix this issue so I can get back to playing the game. Just so you know I am running an modified gaming laptop with a Nvidia GeForce GTX960.
