Previous builds with boilers/engines experienced virtually no fps loss
Entire base constant 60 fps
28 steam engines (doing the no solar panel achieve) fps with engines in view = 24
smoke turned off in options engine area fps is back to 60 again.
Gpu useage on entire base is at 17% without smoke
Gpu use on base with smoke on is at 98%

Do you have the option to increase memory used for video card?
MAybe use a VGA card, assuming a pc, with 2 or 3gb?

Same problem, I'll drop to 15 FPS with 160 steam engines running, which is nothing as in .14 I had well over 500. Turning off smoke effect returns the game to 60 FPS.
Setting texture to normal gains 2 FPS, Setting it to low makes it return to 60 FPS.
