Difficulty seeing pollution due to colorblindness

Is there a way to change what color is used for the pollution overlay in the map?
I have moderate red/green colorblindness, and have a very hard time telling where the edge of the pollution is on the map, unless it is very heavy pollution (very noticeable red).


Would it be as simple as to change the "pollution-visualization.png" file (in /Factorio/data/core/graphics/) to a different color for the pollution marker?
I am a Comp Sci major, so if you point me in the correct direction, I can try to tinker with it a bit. In case colorblind support is not a high priority for the devs at the moment.
