32 Bit Linux Demo?

Post by i851591 »

Hi!

I wanted to try if the game works on my notebook but I couldn't find a 32-bit version of the Linux demo. Is there (still) one? I've seen references in the wiki, but couldn't find a download link.

32 bits isn't supported any more. I guess the demo has been removed, in order not to trick people who have a 32 bits OS they can play the full game when they obviously can't.

Oh, I see. So do I understand you correctly that the full game isn't available for 32-bit Linux either?

The current version is still available for 32-bit OS, but they already removed multiplayer from it. And with the next version (0.15) Factorio will be exclusively 64-bit. On both the Factorio website and Steam page it already lists 64-bit as requirement.

Thank you for the quick response. I'll find a 64-bit device to play this great game :)

There is actually a good chance your notebook is 64 bit capable but just has a 32 bit operating system installed.
For the last decade there has not been any computer hardware that is not 64 bit capable.

I highly recomment you take the time to upgrade to 64 bit then.
64 bit is no longer the future but the present so you will have to do it some time anyway.

Note, I have a 32bit linux install on my server machine. And I could run the Linux version of the headless server on this after only installing a 64bit kernel.

I do not know if this works for the graphical version of well.
